Video: Why You Shouldn't Take Magic Mushrooms

Today I made a claymation that shows the effects of magic mushrooms (although it is a little exaggerated). It took about an hour to make.

What I enjoyed about making the animation was the small challenges I faced (e.g. holding things up in midair without my hand). I had to think of ways to overcome these (for that example I used a screw). I'm pleased with the result.

Here are a few tips if you want to create your own claymation videos:

  1. Plan the video before you animate! Otherwise you'll end up making a random video that will confuse people. Just make sure you have a plan and stick to it as much as you can (create a short story maybe).
  2. Make the video as smooth as possible. This means you have to take a lot more frames. When you want to move an object in your animation, move it slightly (about 1cm), take a picture, move it slightly again, take a picture, repeat. Your video will be a lot better if you do this.
  3. Use a program that has features like ghosting (when you can see the previous frame and the current frame merged together). This will make it much easier to create smooth animation.

Hope you enjoy the video!

That's really good, I like the motion where he eats the mushroom.
