Free Music Festival This Saturday!
Soundscene UK is proud to announce that Cardiff’s unique free youth music and arts event the Under Construction Festival has returned for 2010.
This is on this weekend on Saturday 14th August at Maindy Stadium from 12 til 7pm.
What it is:
Under Construction is performed, organised, staffed and operated almost entirely by young people. Since September 2007, every year a group of members that make up the event steering committee have been meeting and scheming on everything from poster design to site planning, making license applications to booking toilets. They’ll also have the chance to be stewards, stage managers, photographers and workshop leaders etc on the day.
What’s there, then?
A few bits and pieces, like a completely carbon neutral, solar powered main stage, lighting rig and PA system. Yes, you heard green! On the magical stage, we’ll have some of Cardiff’s brightest young talent, appearing as DJs, MCs, bands, songwriters and singers. We’ll have a few ramps as well, with boards and pads so people can get skating, plus a whole bunch of free workshops run by people like on things such as drumming, DJ skills, break dance, spray-painting and more. Let’s not forget, there’s also lush hot food and cakes for sale from the mobile Embassy Caf, performances of break and street dance, and much more
What do you want me to do about it?
Well, it’s up to you, but I reckon the least anyone should do is come down and have a look at our light powered stage. You don’t see that very often. Oh, and did I mention that it was free?
