The South Wales New Music Forum
Are you in a band? Are you thinking of venturing into the music scene? Are you interested in working in the music industry, but don’t play an instrument? Do you want to study a music course at college, but don't know which one?
If yes, please read on...
We are the South Wales New Music Forum (SWNMF). We are a collective consisting of representatives from local authorities, charitable groups, voluntary bodies and industry professionals from across South Wales, all with the same aim to help empower people between the ages of 14 to 25-years-old interested in a career in the music industry. We aim to provide a platform for young people interested in the music industry, and digital technologies, to express themselves and explore new ideas through communication, activity and events.
To kick start this new service we have created an event called Music T@lks.
Music T@lks is a unique music seminar for young people aged 14 25 for around the South Wales Valleys incorporating nine local authority areas.
The first stage of the event will offer young people advice and professional support through interactive discussion forums, taster sessions and a professional industry panel. The project aims to create a young people’s new music forum carrying the branding ‘Music T@lks’ into their own communities to become mentors, role models and leaders in the creative industries. The second stage of the project aims to support young people to arrange live events in their areas based on producing a ‘gig share’ touring element. They will learn valuable skills, communication, self-development, leadership, event organising, technical requirement, marketing and promotion across the nine authority areas preparing them for future development. All of which are essential to be successful within the creative industries.
Unfortunately, this seminar is now fully booked. However, please visit http://www.swnmf.co.uk to join in the discussions, find out more and keep updated with future events.
