The Pain Of A Lost Child: Chapter Two

It was about 8 o’clock in the evening when Annie finally awoke from being kicked in the stomach so much. She sat up to see Rob asleep on her couch; she slowly got up, and after making some tea for herself and Rob for looking after her. She gently nudged him and he awoke,

“Hi.” She said sweetly.

“Hey, you feeling better now?” Rob asked and sat up slowly.

“Yes much better thanks, oh I made some tea if you want some.”

“Umm yeah thanks.”

“Umm Rob I, uh, need to tell you something.”

“Right, err, has it got anything to do with you being pregnant?”

“Umm yeah, hey how’d you know?”

“Well my err hand sort of grazed your stomach and the baby moved!”

“Ah well at least now you know you’re gonna be a daddy!”

Rob stared blankly at her. “What do you mean?” Could I really of got her pregnant already like this?

“What does it normally mean? I’m pregnant Rob and it’s your baby!”

“What?! Are you serious, that kid in there is mine, I mean part of me and you?”

“Well I haven’t exactly slept with anyone else except for you.”

“Wow! I mean wow, I’m gonna be a dad? And you’re...” He placed his hand on her slightly rounded belly softly caressing it, “gonna be a mummy?”

“Yeah it looks that way doesn’t it huh?”

“Oh Annie come here.” Rob said before bringing his mouth down to hers and slowly caressing her slightly swollen belly, showing her promising pregnancy with a hand. But as he did so the baby within her moved slightly shocking him. He felt something like an electric bolt go right threw his body before he saw something of a premonition. It was showing his and Annie’s future, they were smiling at each other whilst walking somewhere but they had two children and it looked as though Annie was pregnant again. "My God..." he thought "she must be the one for me, if I marry her and we have children, but when will this happen? If it happens at all, yes damn it will happen, cos I’ll make it happen. If it’s the last thing I do."

“Rob? Robbie?” Annie said cautiously as Rob had just been staring off in to space for the last ten minutes as if on a world of his own.

“Hmmm?” He said looking directly in her eyes. They are some eyes glass green with a small sparkle in them today. “What is it Annie?”

“Are you um OK cos you went a bit funny then?”

“Oh uh yeah I’m fine I just... never mind, the baby moved when I touched your belly, it’s as if it knows I’m here and when I’m about to touch you.”

“Yeah I know, it’s cos she’s gonna be special you know.”

“Oh so our baby’s a she now is she?”

“Well I don’t know but I hope so cos I’d like to have a girl first.”

They just stood there for a while holding each other tightly and then when Annie was ready Robbie took her into her room. That night they did not make love, they just lay in each other’s arms listening to the beat of their hearts.
