  • An Oscar Statue

It's Oscar season again, and with the nominations comes the inevitable gasps of indignation. There have been a number of surprises: No Christopher Nolan for Best Director? No nods for Shutter Island or even Leo? No recognition for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo or Noomi Rapace? And has anyone actually seen Winter's Bone, the little surprise package of the year?

Anyway, I'd like to suggest a friendly competition. There is no prize for the winner except my undying respect, but take a look at the full list of Oscar Nominations and then comment below with your predictions for the following categories. Allow me to start you off with what I predict (and not what I hope) will happen!

The ceremony takes place on 27th February, so get your predictions in before then!

Also, a couple of the films haven't even come out yet. Looking forward to True Grit, Biutiful and maybe The Fighter... not sure about that one yet.

  • Best Actor: Colin Firth
  • Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale
  • Best Actress: Natalie Portman
  • Best Supporting Actress: Helena Bonham Carter
  • Animated Film: Toy Story 3
  • Director: David Fincher
  • Best Film: The King's Speech
  • And if you can be bothered, Writing: The Social Network and Inception.

Good luck!
