The Dreaded Election
I am confused about the general election.
I have been watching the televised Prime Ministerial Debates on ITV and Sky News between the three main party leaders, Gordon Brown (Labour), David Cameron (The Conservatives) and Nick Clegg (The Liberal Democrats). The next one is on BBC1 this Thursday (April 29th) at 8.30pm.
Of the three, I reckon Nick Clegg would actually make life better for younger people.
I am currently trying to look for a hairdressing job, but I am finding it difficult. Salons only want take on school leavers, so they can pay out the smallest amount of money in wages that they are legally allowed [Sub-Ed Note: There are three age groups regards minimum wage, 16-18 (£3.57 p/hr), 18-21 (£4.83 p/hr) and 22+ (£5.80 p/hr)] .
Also, I have heard of certain salons that don't pay you the right and proper way. Instead of putting the money directly into your bank account, they give you cash in hand, which I find really weird.
What do you reckon? Which party do you think would best represent the interests of young people? Comment below or submit your own article!
