  • He's got history all over his face

I come from the region of the summer stars.
I am older than you are,
And I have seen more than you will ever see.
I bore a banner before Alexander on the field of Halicarnassus,
And I was there in Canaan when Absalom was slain.
I was at the place of the crucifixion of the merciful Son of God,
And I was the chief engineer of the tower of Nimrod.
I am a wonder whose origin is not known.

I strengthened Moses through the waters of Jordan.
I commanded the vultures at Palatine Hill.
I sailed in Asia with Noah and the ark.
I sang at the baptism of the Great Pyramids.
I escaped with Arthur from the Fortress of Guts and Glass.
I polished the shield of Athena.
I fashioned Set’s Sarcophagus.
I captained the chargers that tore Ganelon to shreds.
I have started wars and I have ended wars,
And I have danced in the rain and the candlelight.
I am lonely.
I will live forever.
