Student Team Chef Challenge 2011
The up-and-coming future generation of chefs and caters from South Wales are being given the chance to display their talents against other groups from the regions around the United Kingdom.
The Student Team Chef Challenge competition is targeted at student chef teams, no more than three members, who are studying at level two and three to produce a three-course meal at a cost of no more than £12 per head for four people within 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The event was organised by Brakes Group, which has been established since 1993, which encourages the teams to develop their catering skills that focus on sourcing local ingredients and keeping to a set cost. Also it gives them the opportunity to showcase their creativity, professionalism and how to work in a team in a battle against other teams.
The members of the overall winning team will win a five-day work experience with Christopher Basten who is an exclusive chef at Marriott Hotel, London and the vice-chairman of the craft Guild of Chefs and a Global knife-set. Prizes will also be awarded to regional winners, second and third place and lecturers.
