Hello, SproutNews Correspondent Simdude here. Coming up:

**Avalanche on Mt Everest: The worst disaster on the world's highest mountain since the 1996 storm.

**Korean ferry capsizes: A South Korean ferry has capsized on a routine voyage. 300 people are thought to have been on board, many of which were schoolchildren on a field trip.

**Missing Malaysian flight MH370: A piece of possible plane debris is discarded as 'not important' in the search for the missing Malaysian flight MH370.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, first. An avalanche on Mt Everest, the world's highest mountain (29,035 ft), has killed 16 local Sherpa guides. The disaster is the worst on the mountain since the 1996 storm, when 8 climbers died on the South col in a freak snowstorm. The 16 deceased Sherpa's had gone ahead to lay down fixed ropes when the avalanche struck just above the mountain's base camp. The Sherpa's had a puja ceremony worshiping the Goddess of the mountain, Chomolungma, in sorrow for their passed away friends. The Sherpa's have demanded that all expeditions stop and that no-one climbs the mountain, but foreign climbers and some of their Sherpa's remain on the mountain, waiting for the the May 'weather window' when the weather is just right to summit the peak. We will bring more on this story when more information is available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, a South Korean ferry has capsized on a routine voyage to an island. 300 passengers were allegedly on board, and most of those have now been confirmed to have been school children on a field trip. Investigators have uncovered that the ferry was being steered by an inexperienced 'third mate', in a stretch of water they had never navigated before, at the time of the accident. Some crew members have been arrested on suspicion of negligence.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, a piece of debris found on the coast of Australia has been discarded as 'nothing', in relation to missing flight MH370, operated by Malaysian airways. The plane, a Boeing 777, disappeared over a month ago after the co-pilot said these final words: 'all right, goodnight' as they crossed out of Malaysian airspace. The plane is presumed by officials to have crashed in the Indian ocean, claiming the lives of all 239 passengers and crew. The piece was examined and found to be nothing of interest or significance.

That is the news for today. Thanks for reading.

Hi simdude! I've made a pic of a sprout with glasses and 'correspondent' written on it. I've asked the Editor if it's possible to have a newpaper and/or cartoon camera on it, too! That would cool! Yeah haha your profile pic is pretty sweet, too!

Looking forward to seeing your next article! I'll email you a couple of news ideas that I've seen!

Hi, I've uploaded the 'Correspondent' sprout above. Hope you like it! Let me know if you want any tweaks. I've spoken with the Editor and he's told me that 'there's no scope for any design work to be done' by our design company but if you want to create a sprout with a newspaper/camera, then you can, of course, do so :)

Hi tom!, how would you go about making a camera?

P.s: would it be possible in my username to have brackets with either Correspondent e.g simdude101 [correspondent], or SproutNews Correspondent e.g simdude101 [SproutNews Correspondent].

Thanks :)
