To celebrate the launch of their new books, local authors Jaque Thay and Lynda Nash have paired with theSprout to hold a creative writing competition.
Both Creative Writing graduates from the University of Glamorgan, Jaque and Lynda have both previously been published in the Daps Creative Writing Anthology.
Jaque Thay's first book of short stories, Jaque's Magic Beans & other stories, and Lynda Nash's Ashes of a Valleys Childhood, are out now and the authors are currently touring Wales as part of the Oxfam Bookfest.
The lucky winner will receive a signed copy of both Jaque's Magic Beans & other stories and Ashes of a Valleys Childhood as well as a £10 book voucher for Waterstone’s.
How To Enter:
The rules are simple submit a story of 1500 words or less to theSprout before July 26th and you'll be entered into the competition (that means you've got just over a week, so get writing!).
You can write about anything you choose and Jaque and Lynda will read them all! They will announce their favourite story on August 6th.
It can be fiction or non-fiction, and can even be an extract from a larger piece. Please add the words 'Short Story Competition' to the title when submitting, so we know you want it to be included.
If you wish to submit a story which is already on theSprout, please email arielle@thesprout.co.uk with the title and she'll make sure it gets submitted.
You must be aged between 11 25 at the time of entering and live in Wales.

Technically there isn't a limit, but you should keep in mind that there are only two people reading all of these submissions. So if you submit eight thousand stories they might not like you. :p As a general rule I would say 3 pieces as the maximum.
The only thing I would say is that the stories should be unique and stand alone. i.e. You can't submit the first 5 chapters of a story as 5 separate entries - instead, just pick your favourite segment.
