Scene One

Scene: Your date location needs to inspire you both. If he's into bikes, suggest cycling somewhere. If he wears a football shirt, challenge him to a keepie-up marathon.

Stage direction: Turn your feet towards him and do not cross your arms as it is like building a concrete wall between you.

Dialogue:

Admit something embarrassing, like ''you're going to have to pedal slowly. I have failed to mention this but last time I rode one of these it had stabilizers and it was made of plastic."
Move the conversation on to small talk - play the "hey what's your favourite film/weekend activity/type of cheese?" game.
If his interests send you into a coma take the mickey out of him, ''so you'd rather watch a film about cyber monster space things than the one actually featuring real people...?!"
Fess up time. Tell him the real reason why you're not interested in the same thing as he is, ''to be honest I trip over my feet so I think that two wheels and a plank of wood won't be my friends."
