RuMble - European Soundclash
ProMo Cymru organised a youth exchange project that took place from August 13th to August 20th 2007: RuMble - European Soundclash.
Young unsigned bands, from four European countries came together for one week in Cardiff to share their cultures with each other and local people. Cardiff and surroundings people enjoyed the performances of a Swedish indie rock / pop band, Stripes of Blue Sky, an Estonian Jazz / folk band, K?laline, a French Gypsy Jazz band, Samgratlorey, a Welsh Progressive Shanty band, Fredrick Stanley Star and another Welsh band, Johnny and the Bandits (indie/rock).
The performances took place in several venues throughout Cardiff: Buffalo, Callaghans, and Cathays Community Centre. On top of that, the project included loads of creative workshops open to everybody, such as african drumming and mcing, instrument making, and juggling (Grassroots and Cathays Community Centre).
To carry through this project, ProMo Cymru created a partnership with three European cultural associations, UNG Vagabond in Sweden, Kandlekoda in Estonia and Presse Pur?e in France, allowing them to develop their activities and network to a European extent. The project aims to be a pilot for future cooperation between cultural European associations as well as between young European artists.
The project was sponsored by the EU Programme Youth in Action.
