Robbery In Cathays
WORDS: Ben Hopkins /?
Two students were approached outside the Cardiff University Students' Union last weekend and forced to hand over all the money they had.
The two male robbers, who were in their twenties and?had been following?Nick Long and Sam Evanson?since they passed them on Queen Street, approached the boys at around six o'clock on Friday using a friendly persona.?
The men then asked the boys if they had any money to spare as they had "lost all theirs in a betting shop".
After telling the men that they had no cash, Nick and Sam started to walk away before one of the men threatened to stab them if they didn't give them their money.?
After this threat, the two students handed over what cash they had, at which point the men again went back to their friendly persona, trying to joke with the boys as they walked away, with one of the men even trying to hug them both.
This incident comes after leaflets were posted in the Cathays area by Cardiff Council stating that crime was on the increase, with muggings and drug dealing being listed.
Anyone with information can contact the?Cathays?Police?Station?incident room on 029 2052 7267 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
