Review: Trouble On My Mind
Pusha T featuring Tyler, The Creator - Trouble On My Mind
"It's the blackout"
These four words caught my attention to what was being played on the CD. I wouldn't usually listen to music such as this, although I thought I'd give it a chance. I wouldn't say it was hip-hop but I wouldn't say it was rap either, it was somewhere in-between.
There are three versions to choose from on this single; clean, instrumental and dirty - which isn't actually that dirty, it just meant that on the clean version all swearing and inappropriate words are bleeped out.
I really enjoyed listening to the dirty version because it's interesting listening to the lyrics. During the song the words "Trouble On My Mind" is repeated frequently and I thought that this was greatly effective because I could picture all the troubles said in the song actually happening in real life.
The second song on the CD is the same as the first, but like I said earlier it's the clean version of it. This was good too, because it means the song can be age appropriate for younger listeners, however because of the frequent usage of inappropriate words there is a lot of pauses in the song to bleep out these words. Even though you can guess what the words are it makes the song a little more confusing to listen to, thus making it less enjoyable.
The third song on the CD was just the instrumental of the previous two songs. I really enjoyed this because you could just hear the nice simplistic beats. I thought this was nice to listen to because you could then have the opportunity to 'rap out' yourself and/or even try and replicate the song. I haven't tried it myself and I don't quite plan to as I would probably end up making a fool of myself, but I think it's nice because you can have the opportunity to do so.
The track Trouble On My Mind (Feat. Tyler, The Creator) was taken from the album Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray which has other great songs on it such as Raid (Feat. 50 Cent & Pharrell) and Amen (Feat. Kanye West & Young Jeezy).
If you like rap/hip-hop music then I think this CD would be for you, it's great, giving you a sense of living the artist experiences. The music seems to come from the heart which makes it that bit more enjoyable to listen to.
