The Wanted - Word of Mouth Tour 2014 featuring Elyar Fox, The Vamps, and Despicable Me?

Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff

Friday 28th March 2014

On Friday, my friend Molly and I were lucky enough to go and see my favourite band, The Wanted, live in concert! It was just amazing!

It all started at 6:30pm when the doors opened (which we weren't there for because we were too busy stuffing our faces with pizza at home!) but we had an hour until the Elyar Fox took centre stage to start the show.

We got there at about 7:15pm with our tickets and banner saying "GLOW IN THE DARK" which is one of their songs on their new album and we had lights all around it and we doodled all over it! We worked so hard on it. That was until (dun dun dun), the evil man at the door said "We're going to have to take that off you, I'm afraid." He was evil. I bet he's a secret spy for El Macho and he left the world of Despicable Me just to ruin teenagers' dreams. Or maybe he was El Macho because they did look similar (dun dun duuuuun).

(Ignore that! That was just my Despicable Me fandom talking! Well at least I didn't bring Pharrell into this, then we would have been here a while! "Because I'm happyyy")

Anyway, we still got in (yay)! When we got in, we went straight to the shop (we are teenage girls, we do that in any and every venue)! I bought the tour T-Shirt and the program. I still haven't taken the tour T-Shirt off yet! It's too precious.

Elyar Fox

After finding our seats on the balcony (they were actually pretty good seats) we sat, and we waited (and then we screamed)! The intro to Do It All Over Again was starting to play and then suddenly out from the side of the stage came Elyar Afshari aka Elyar Fox! He started with Do It All Over Again, we were all jumping to the beat. Then he sang his new song that he wrote on the tour bus called Lovers (we know he wrote it on the tour bus because we saw his video on Facebook). He then did a cover of the number one hit single Rather Be by Clean Bandit.

His next song was a song that he wrote when he was 15 and oh-my-golly-gosh it was perfect! It was called Smile (and it did make me)! His final song on his set was "There's a billion girls in the world but there's only one youuuu" Billion Girls! During his set, he gave the chance for people to go backstage - they just needed to follow him and tweet him with #imcardiffsbillionthgirl (I think!) I was going to do it but my phone is rubbish!

The Vamps

There was a small interval for The Vamps to get ready (yeah that's right The Vamps). Their set started with their video for Last Night. During the video, they were trying to sneak on stage with no-one noticing but it didn't work! The entire arena saw them and started screaming! Did you know that Tristan (The Vamps drummer) is half Welsh?! They carried on with Last Night when they came on which was amazing. They then sang their new song from their album, Girls On TV. It is really catchy.

Next, it was their debut single Can We Dance, which was amazing. To finish their amazing half-hour, they played another one of their new songs "Cecilia, you're breaking my heart. You're shaking my confidence baby" Don't know what it's called? Well you should. Cecilia! During their set they gave out like five-second previews of their debut album which is coming out next month, is it? I'm not sure but I know it's coming!

OK so now that I've finished with the opening acts, I think we all know what's coming next. Drum roll please... it's The Wanted!

The Wanted

They started with their Comic Relief 2011 single Gold Forever, which was a big hit with the crowds! Then a song from their new album Word Of Mouth, which was the theme for our banner before El Macho took it of us! Teenage dream stealer!! You guessed it! "You glow in the daaaark........I can see you" Glow in The Dark! Their next song was also from their new album and it was called In The Middle. Also a crowd pleaser (who am I kidding, they were all crowd pleasers!) I'm pretty sure you've all heard of a song called Lightning? No? Well then! Anyway, that song was next! Oh-my-golly-gosh! It was amazing!

Before I continue, you all do know who The Wanted are, don't you? Well anyway, the guys: Max, Siva, Jay, Nathan, Tom. The girlfriends: Nareesha (Siva) (well technically they're fiancées now), Kelsey (Tom) (sorry but I adore Tomsey they are just amazingly perfectly amazingly perfect!), Nina (Max). The ex-girlfriends: Ariana (Nathan) (ILYSM Ariana!), Dionne (Nathan), Michelle (Max) (There are quite a lot of ex-girlfriends so I'll just leave it there!) Manger: Scooter Braun, Nano. Security Guard: Big Kev. They all have family members but I don't have all day!

OK, now that we got that sorted out, let's get back to the show! Now, where did I get up to? Oh right Lightning! The next song is Nathan's (Or as Keith Lemon says it: Nat-Han's) favourite: Running Out Of Reasons. Everyone's hands were in the air waving left and right! They next got all their instruments out and played a song that I love and Jay and Siva wrote it. "Demons in my head" (I'm not psycho, those are the lyrics!) Their next song's title was a question but they forgot the question mark! Naughty naughty! It was Could This Be Love.

They then really showed the arena how to steal the show by adding fire! Literally! Warzone was definitely a show stealer (probably because Jay and Siva were doing the tango!). They had brief costume changes in the concert and their first one was after this song. So we wouldn't be bored during the costume changes, they put together sort of like small memory videos. Which I obviously videoed myself (actually, I videoed the entire concert!). When they came back in their new clothes, they did a medley of their favourite songs from their first album. Which was obviously the awesomest of moments! They then did probably my favourite song from their new album. And they didn't just play it, they did an acoustic version that was perfect. Everybody Knows is basically about a girl who went out with a guy and... I have no idea where I'm going with this! Moving on!

"They'll never be a Heartbreak Story" was their next song from their new album! Gosh how much have I written? Surely you must have heard about a certain boy ballad with strings in it? And it's called Show Me Love? No? Gosh what's wrong with you? Black and white music video? I give up! Now you have to have heard of a song called Heart Vacancy? You have? Finally! What disappointed me though is that usually in Heart Vacancy they usually choose five girls, one for each of the members, and they sing to them and they are then called Heart Vacancy Girls (or Boys) but they didn't! I don't know why but that was a bit upsetting.

They had their second costume change and memory video, which I cried in! They started again with Walks Like Rihanna, which was a massive hit! Everyone was either jumping or dancing or both! I was doing both because I'm special! "You'll find us chasing the sun!" was next and yet again a massive crowd pleaser. They then sang I Found You with their creative dance moves! I was laughing, singing and crying all through it! They ended the concert with there Irish pub hit We Own The Night. Or did they? After bowing for all their adoring fans and went off, they came running back on to end with their debut single All Time Low and the smash hit Glad You Came! The screams were exceptional! They were so loud!

I think my highlight of the night was during Show Me Love, about two-thirds of the crowd were holding up infinity signs with "TWFANMILY" written on the side. Me and Molly were like "I want one!" Another highlight was Jay's dancing!
