Review: Panic! At the Disco's New Album and a Happy Birthday to Brendon
Considering my new found obsession with American rock/alternative/punk band Panic! At the Disco and I haven’t got an account on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or anything (I know, sad little me!) I felt incredibly guilty not wishing lead singer/guitarist/pianist Brendon Urie Happy 24th Birthday yesterday. So here it is:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRENDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
Speaking of which, this seems like a good time to mention their new album. It’s been 3 years since their last album, Pretty.Odd. and since then, lead guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker have left to create their new band, The Young Veins. That leaves Brendon and drummer Spencer Smith to carry on Panic! on their own.
And they have done a fab job in my opinion! Their new record, as a rock duo, is called Vices & Virtues and came out in late March 2011. It’s full to bursting with addictive melodies, awesome drumbeats, bizarre instruments and lyrics that are guaranteed to make you smile. =) Not bad for two people who are used to working in a band of four and that Ryan used to write most of the lyrics.
The sound of this album is different sound to Pretty.Odd. and A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. It’s going back towards their original sound, but not quite. The lyrics are deeper and I can’t wait to see what the live shows will be like.
Songs like Hurricane will have you stamping your feet and clapping your hands, Lets Kill Tonight will have you humming all day long and Always will make you keep blinking furiously at the screen.
You’ll have to listen to their new album to see what I’m talking about.
I shall say no more
Enjoy! =) x
