Review: Grease Sing-A-Long-A @ SDH
So, I'm sure most of you have seen Grease... but probably not like this!
St David's Hall did it slightly differently. At first, I was slightly disappointed because I had assumed that the show would be a musical, for whatever reason, but, in actual fact, it was the same old film just on a really large screen.
Needless to say, it wasn't bad! I thoroughly enjoyed the show for it was quite interactive and suitable for everyone (minus the bits of language in the film itself). When I say 'interactive', I mean we all got given a little goodie bag, full of items to be used throughout the film. In this nice little goodie bag, there was a balloon, a checkered flag, a tissue and a party popper. We also shouldn't forget the paper bag it all came in...
Before the show started, there was a fantastic host in bright pink colours with pink hair, almost like one of the Pink Ladies, and she told us what to do with the items: the tissue was to wave in the sad moments, the paper bag was to be a hat in the beauty school drop-out song, the blue balloon for the dance and the flags for the drag race. Then came the party popper to signify the ending of the film.
It was a greatly fun and entertaining time, where everyone stood up and sang their hearts out to the songs. The lyrics played on the screen to follow and dance lights came on to have a good jig to, as well!
I thoroughly enjoyed the night; it wasn't what I expected but it was brilliant! I was even tempted to go up on stage for the costume contest but thought not... there were already so many fantastic characters up on stage.
If this comes to Cardiff again, I'd seriously recommend you going... or if it's played elsewhere, I guarantee you'll have a great evening, just like I did!
