Review: Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared - Time
Well as if things couldn’t be more disbursing after the first Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared video…
This British group of filmmakers, designers and other artists have only a few videos on their YouTube page. Yet with these videos, they are a revelation and downright hilarious. Each has its own artistic flare and I do hope they make more soon.
It’s a delicious idea to create a film that has the façade of a children’s show but gradually you realise it is most certainly not for children. It becomes quite shocking, disgusting and highly experimental. It’s what YouTube was made for and is some of the best content I have seen on the whole site.
It is very much a case of ‘well, that’s escalated quickly’ type of thinking when it comes to these videos. Its pride of place in ‘the weird part of YouTube’ you occasionally find yourself in on the site. I certainly love to contribute to one of their video. I'm quite crazy, so I could hopefully see this happening.
The genius lies in the brilliant puppets, graphics and music. The tick-tock nature of the piano, the weird and kind of cute nature of the puppets and the tacky graphics all add to what is already a cult following. I dread to think what topics they will do next in this vein: Cooking, Literature and Chemistry (all great subjects). I can see them going far, I really can.
I don’t think there is much more I can say… I’m still a bit stunned by this latest offering…
Watch it guys! Loved to see your comments on what you thought.
Be warned! It’s intense and quite disturbing.
