  • The Shadow

Well basically I have this poetry writing competition and I was wondering if I could have some feedback on it so please comment!

The Shadow

I awake one night,
But I can’t see a thing,
Then all of a sudden,
The doorbell rings.

I creep down the stairs,
I look at the time,
It’s midnight,
The perfect hour for a crime.

I don’t mean crime,
Of burglars and thieves,
I hear a rustle,
In the trees.

I mean the crimes,
Of the shadow at night,
It walks down streets,
Stealing light.

Light means hope,
Love and happiness,
The Shadow means despair,
Hatred and anxiousness.

Trembling fingers,
I open the door,
Not knowing what,
Will stand before.

Blood on his fingers,
A bruise on his knees,
“Can I have,
A plaster please?”

So please tell me what you think! It's for the Poetry Rivals Competition 2012 in case you're wondering. Thank you!
