Poem: Teenage Strife

  • Messy Bedroom

My cup's empty, a bit like me symbolically
my room is a mess, a bit like me metaphorically
I'm writing sad sentences, some would say that's like me stereotypically
I've hurt some people, allegedly.

I'm sorry for the hurt if I'm the cause
for where I went wrong, where the story ended
I thought we had something but we didn't
the something was just what I'd pretended.

I've done some bad things, "us" was one of them
but don't put all the blame on me, it's your fault too
you say you thought we were perfect
but deep down there were troubles that I'm sure you knew.

Time now to fill my cup, clean my room and write about something happier
time to realise what I now have and be satisfied with life
I see now what you thought was perfect
is now nothing more than a simple teenage strife.

Thanks Sam, I wrote it to be spoken so it may sound differently, I've been asked to read them at my friend's gig soon so I thought I should write something like this
