  • Poppy Day

We remember those who died for us. The ones who gave their lives for us.

The ones that were in danger for us. Those who were so brave.

We remember those who stood alone. We remember those who fought alone.

We remember those who cried alone. Those who suffered more.

We remember those who were shot for us. The ones that left their family for us.

The ones who died on the field for us. Those who we salute today.

We remember those who took a bullet in war.

We remember those who fired a gun in war. We remember those who witnessed death in war. Those who deserve respect.

Is this just about WWI and WWII, or about all members of the armed forces? IE the British Marine who executed an Afghan militant and was sentenced to life in prison- does he deserve my respect? Or any of the others who have committed war crimes?

I love this. So many people do not acknowledge Remembrance Day anymore and that really upsets me. Thanks for this! x

well, to be honest, I guess its just about all the people affected by war! Wars an ugly thing, so I just thought I'd show my respect to those who do everything for us by writing a simple poem! I didn't mention anything about WWI or WWII, it's just simply about war!
