National Stress Awareness Day
Today is National Stress Awareness Day (NSAD).
Chances are you've experienced stress at some point in your life. As someone who always leaves things to the very last minute I experience it quite often, and while a boost of "Oh God, the deadline is TOMORROW?!" can be useful to kick me into action, stress can be a very harmful thing — particularly if it's experienced on a regular basis.
Stress is one of the most common conditions experienced today: it can contribute to serious physical illnesses including obesity. NSAD aims to raise awareness of what stress is, how to prevent it, and how to manage it when it occurs. The theme for this year is 'Going the Extra Mile' — encouraging organisations to promote psychological wellbeing and create stress-free working environments so people can perform at their best.
"If you feel well you perform better than if you feel ill" the website explains. "People who feel great can often concentrate more effectively on what they want to do."
If you'd like to learn more about stress, including tips on avoiding and dealing with it, be sure to check out this guide by the International Stress Management Association.
Remember you can also talk to MEIC free and anonymously 24/7 by web, text or telephone.

Perhaps you should show her some of the Useful Links at the bottom of the article? They're helpful to people of all ages, not just young people. (Also I'm sure bringing her the odd cup of tea would help too. ;) )
