Mountain rescue
Police have discovered and identified a woman climber,
trapped on mount Snowdon, who is now in a critical condition in hospital.
The woman, who is thought to be in her 40’s and Spanish, was saved by the mountain rescue team on Thursday 6th August. The rescue team, due to low clouds were unable to fly the RAF helicopter directly to her. The team were taken up as far as the helicopter could go and then some had to hitch a lift on the mountain rail while others had to climb the rest of the way to the scene. When they reached her, the woman had hypothermia, knee injuries and it is a possibility that she spent the night on the icy mountain. The rescue team then lifted her onto a stretcher and carried her to a ridge, where she was then airlifted to hospital. She was then taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.
