Memories Never Die

My best friend's brother died a few months back and I know she's been finding it hard, so I just wrote this as a tribute to her brother and so that she knows that she's not really alone.

"The ones who love us never truly leave us." - J.K.Rowling.

You seem so far away,
Your soul now gets to float free forever,
But she is left trapped,
Trapped here by the memories that tied your hearts together.

Blood is thicker than water,
But love will prevail through all.

People are stupid,
Thinking we should just move on,
You should be putting in more effort at school,
They are so wrong.

Work and school are important,
But what truly matters to me,
Are these friends of mine,
Exams and jobs will come and go,
But our memories will last the test of time.

I never knew you,
But I've still witnessed the scar your death left on her world.

No, I never knew you,
But we are both brothers to her,
The grief made holes for the sadness to invade through,
Her false pretence of happiness is wearing thin,
Although, I try to protect her,
It scares me to know that the darkness is seeping in.
