Launching today, Meic is the new helpline for children and young people in Wales from the Welsh Assembly Government.

Meic, which is short for meicroffon (the Welsh for microphone), is a confidential and free helpline which can help you with a range of issues including family and friend problems, housing issues, bullying, health and work worries, to where to go for help in your area or as a place to get something off your chest.

The helpline can help you get others to see things from your point of view.

Gavin Thomas, who is co-ordinating the project, said on the BBC Wales News website: "There are children and young people in Wales who are not able to get their voices heard. We are working in tandem with services like Childline and Meic will be that portal - that one single point of contact for young people."

The lines are open from midday to 8pm, seven days a week.  The service is available in Welsh or English by phone, email, text or instant messaging.

The helpline is for ages 0 - 25, and is free and confidential. You can get in touch by the following methods:

Tel: 080880 23456

Txt: 84001

IM/web: www.meiccymru.org

Email: help@meiccymru.org
