Is Manchester City the richest club in the world?
Well Real Madrid have something to say about that. Splashing out ?65 million on Kak? and most recently signing Cristiano Ronaldo for a record breaking £80 million.
All the talk about Manchester City has attracted attention from football fans worldwide, but have we forgotten the Galacticos?
Judging by the reactions to the recent transfers I think not. While Real are signing these world class players for ridiculous amounts of money, City are signing, well let’s be honest, rather mediocre players compared to the ones that they reported they would sign e.g. Ronaldo, Kaka!
Yet they are still spending silly amounts of money for players who aren’t worth it. For example, Gareth Barry was bought by City for £12 million but you’ve got to ask yourself is he really worth it? Well in my personal opinion he’s a good English player and it’s good that City are showing interest in English players but I really don’t think that he’s worth that much.
Also the Sky Blues have signed Roque Santa Cruz for £17 million. When you think about it they have spent £17 million on a striker who only scored 6 goals last season and is unfortunately injury plagued.
Real Mardid are signing world class players like Kaka and Ronaldo who the whole world knows are great players. Manchester City are disappointing us with no major signings.
Or are they?
The latest reports show that Samuel Eto’o of Barcelona is close to completing a deal worth around about £25 million. Also, as I’m sure most of you know, Carlos Tevez, formally of Manchester United, is reportedly about to sign for the Sky Blues for another £30 million.
So the question still remains? who really is the richest club in the world?

Got something to say?
