This article is a follow up article on Stormer007’s previous article If You Don’t Read This Then

Having been worried about the possibility of budget cuts affecting our funding for theSprout, I was kindly invited to attend a Q&A with Deputy PM Nick Clegg. Arriving 40 minutes early I sat patiently outside Cardiff City Hall listening to my Walkman while quietly singing the words aloud.

I soon found myself in the Cardiff City Hall foyer and after a delightful chat with a lovely man from Red Dragon FM, we found ourselves in the Main Hall waiting patiently for Mr Clegg to arrive.

We waited and waited. It would seem Nick had been delayed. Another word for late. Not a great way to start your own party, eh? So I decided to admire the grandeur of the room we were in. There were hundreds of chairs in the well lit room and a camera crew made me even more excited. A low humming noise surrounded us as the sea of people around us all chatted about well whatever it was they were chatting about. The room itself was very grand and very large. And as the room was so what? Oh right yes, Mr Clegg. Here he comes now.

Although his lateness was an immediate score against him he soon made up for it with a heart-warming speech about how he wanted to take responsibility for the mistakes made by the previous governments. He admitted that yes, cuts are necessary but only so that we can start to pay off the debts we owe as a nation (I think he may have used the word deficit, but having no knowledge of what a “deficit” is, I shall avoid the word except for that sentence).

He said the coalition government was “not going to repeat the mistakes of the 1980s” (and yes that is a direct quote) going on to say “we’re not doing this because we want to, it’s because we have to.” Somewhat reassuring and I thought I would enjoy the next hour and that I would come out of the Q&A much more well-informed than I was before I came in.

How wrong I was!

When someone asked him a question he did the very politician thing of not answering the question asked, but instead answering a question he felt he’d like to answer instead. For example, Arielle asked a wonderful question about support for young people and how the cuts planned will affect them (and by them I of course mean us). Clegg then proceeded to ramble on about teachers and schools, avoiding the subject completely.

This was pretty much the routine for the rest of the Q&A or should I called it the Q&S (I’ll leave it up to you to decide what the S stands for), the only highlight of the session beingHolly Morris attacking Nick with a long and vicious attack on the housing laws! Three words spring to mind when thinking about Holly’s attack. Brill-i-ant!

My conclusion? Nick Clegg, although he appears as a caring and humble person at first, has no clue what’s going on and beats far too much around the proverbial push! And although his choice of tie was fantastic (bright Orange with subtle pattern running through it for all you avid tie fans), I have somewhat lost faith in Mr Clegg and if I wasn’t worried about budget cuts affecting us before, I sure as Hell am now!

One final note: please realise that these are my opinions of Nick Clegg. They should not in any way, shape or form influence your vote (to those of you over 18) at the next whatever it is unless you want them to (insert winking face here).
