The following is by a CLIC member who wishes to remain anonymous.

Lately, I've had a few problems that I've felt I haven't been able to handle.

I felt like I would end up living with the problem forever and things would only get worse.

I'm a member of CLIConline and one day I was on the website and I saw an article about Meic. I clicked on it as it seemed interesting and it explained about Meic being a confidential helpline for ages 0-25.

I automatically thought that this would be the ideal opportunity to finally get the stress off my chest and possibly find some help. I visited Meic's website and read a bit more into the service before deciding to talk to someone via the instant message chat they had.

I had to wait for approximately ten minutes before I was able to speak to an adviser which was quicker than I expected. The adviser was very friendly and asked how they could help and we discussed my problem.

I also felt like I needed to contact someone else to help with my problem but as I wasn't too sure about contacting them myself, Meic were happy to contact them on my behalf. I really found that  helpful and I was really grateful for them doing that for me. I could tell that they cared about my welfare which is nice to know.

They had suggestions for all of my troubles and even gave me a code to continue the conversation if I contacted them again and still had issues with that problem in the future.

I thought it was a great way to get help with the probems I was having as I didn't need to speak to someone face-to-face which is something I'm not the best at with people I don't really know.

Meic is different from other organisations I have heard of as they are an information and advocacy service. An advocate listens to what you have to say and helps you to tell other people what you want or they will talk to other people on your behalf. I thought this was great and it really helped me with the stress I was fighting.

The problems I was having are nowhere near as bad as before and I'm extremely greatful and thankful for Meic being there and I know that if I ever have another problem or this problem gets worse again and to the stage where I can't solve it on my own, I can go straight to Meic.
