How U Feelin?
Marvin Humes, from popband JLS, is helping to launch the How U Feelin? campaign that raises awareness of ChildLine’s new online service.
As ever, young people can continue to call ChildLine on 0800 1111, but now they can receive more information and support via the website www.childline.org.uk.
The new website provides information and advice on issues that affect children and young people. It has fun things like games, videos and tools so children can get creative. It also has a ‘daily moodtracker’ to help children express how they are feeling. If they feel worried or upset, they can email or post a message on the site or request one-to-one support with a counsellor online.
Marvin Humes, from popband JLS, launched the ChildLine online service with pupils from Harefield Academy in Uxbridge, with ‘moodies’ in front of their faces. The moodies can be found on the ChildLine website to help children track their moods and express their feelings.
Humes said: “I’m really proud to support ChildLine and to help launch its great new website that lets children express their feelings and get help for their problems.
“Everyone has bad days, even popstars. When I’m touring with JLS it can get stressful and I miss my family, but talking to my bandmates about it makes me feel better.
“When children find it difficult to talk about their feelings and problems to their friends and family, ChildLine is there for them. Whatever it is, if it matters to children, it matters to ChildLine.”
A Word From ChildLine:
Young people have been telling us that they would like to help spread the word about ChildLine and so we are hoping you are up for helping us do just that!
Our new campaign is called How U Feelin? We want to ask every young person in the UK, and every time someone answers this question, it becomes what we’re calling a “moodi”. So we would like to ask for your help in capturing the moodi of the nation!
To help you out, we’ve created a new moodi-blog where you can pick up graphics and exclusives that you can use on your other favourite sites. It’s live now, and it’s a great place to start finding out or learning more about the campaign.
You can answer How U Feelin? on a new part of the ChildLine site called the How U Feelin? hub. As well as allowing you to play games, draw pictures and post on the message boards, it will also have new stuff like wallpapers and new graphics for the creative tool.
You can talk about your feelings or what you are thinking in private, or let others know by publishing your pictures to the gallery or using the message boards. Over the next few months we’ll collect the public answers on the How U Feelin? hub to show how young people are feeling. So please keep coming back to see how it grows!
Visit the moodi-blog now to help start capturing the moodi of the nation. You’ll make a big difference for ChildLine and more importantly for other young people as well.
Whatever your worry, it’s better out than in. If taking part makes you realise you need to talk about something, you can always call or go through to a 1-2-1. And rememberif when you’re spreading the word and someone wants to talk about their worries, don’t forget to point them in ChildLine’s direction.
ChildLine has people who are trained in supporting and providing advice to young people, whatever their worry. Or they might prefer to talk with an adult they know perhaps a parent, teacher, youth worker or another member of the family, all you can do is give them the information and not get involved yourself.
Anyone who needs to can always call 0800 1111, or register on the ChildLine site to use private email and 1-2-1 counselling. You can get picture messages by text too.
