Homework
Hi there.
I'm in Year 8, and I have realised that we are getting laundered with homework at my school!
Getting three to four pieces a day of homework can really affect our social life. Do we really want to spend our evenings constantly doing homework, instead of going out with your friends?
Yes, I understand we need homework for our education, but do we really have to spend our limited childhood days sitting at a desk, writing out equations and translating sentences that we will never need in French?
No, I don't think so. The transition from Year 7 to Year 8 is quite a large step, maybe even bigger than the one going from your primary school and entering high school. Everybody expects so much of you, and you are not considered new to the school anymore.
That doesn't change when it comes to homework. At some point, half way through your year, that you are getting the same amount of homework as a Year 9 student.
Now, I don't know about you, but I don't think that's right. We're not ready for that much work. Well, some people may be, but a large majority of us are not.
Childhood only comes once, and not for a long period of time either. So why waste so much of this precious time of you life on... HOMEWORK?
As I said before, I understand that we need homework to expand our education, but having around three pieces everyday, that take up to one and a half hours, well... It justs gets kinda pathetic.

I completely agree with this article and I think that everything you said in it I feel exactly the same. Thanks for voicing this - maybe teachers will read it and take note!

Thank you for the feedback 'swiftsbiggestfan13', I really appriciate it, and I hope that teachers see this too and rethink the quantity of homework they give us :)
