As promised, here's part one of Heads Or Tails, the new serial on theSprout

Austin was sat in his usual corner of the small common room that was cramped with forest green chairs. He was a normal height and build for his age of eighteen years, with eyes that matched the colour of a leaf in the middle of spring and wood brown hair that was spiked at the front and flat at the back like an ocean wave. His angular features quivered as he smiled at Kate, who was walking in his direction, "Hey you," she said sitting down net to him, "Where are Mike and Lucy?"

Austin looked at her; her brown hair was wavering in the small breeze that blew through the two sets of windows that were situated on opposite sides of the room. "They should be coming up soon." Austin replied as Kate pulled a strand of wayward hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, showing her glorious face, which could light the darkest corner. She wore a smile that creased the tender skin that covered her cheeks and allowed her mahogany eyes to shine.

"Lets see what I have for lunch." She ducked her head into the bag at her feet. This allowed Austin to have a quick look around the room and see if anyone was looking at them. No one was, the pretty girls in the corner opposite him were busy advertising every brand of make up invented, while the geeks were discussing the latest theory of the mean root square speed of a single particle, the jocks were strangely absent, which explained the calm that had settled over the room.

"Move up Kate," said Lucy her voice invading his thoughts, she sat down on her right, dirtying the clean air with the tinge of smoke. Her pale skin made Kate'"s seem even more radiant.

Kate moved up closer to Austin so that their sides were touching, this caused Austin to freeze as he felt the warmth of her side on his. This wonderful warmth whipped his wildest wonders into a wicked craze, which opened his senses forcing him to feel everything, he felt the dripping drop of sweat dangle dangerously on his eyebrow, while he felt as if his whole side was on fire, a flaming fire that caressed the connection between the two.

She rested her head on his stony shoulder so that the connection rippled from head to toe. This binding connection bolted and blinded him to all else he couldn"t move for fear of breaking the bond that would last a lifetime.

"Austin?" a male voice said, "Austin?" Mike repeated as Austin felt the connection break, like sand scattering across a cold beach of memory. Austin blinked a picture of Mike, Lucy and Kate staring at him with two dark figures standing behind them. "Hey Hun," Kate said standing up and hugging one of the dark figures. "How was lunch?"

"It was great thanks," The dark figure Mark said, rapping his arm around her shoulders, "You coming to sit down?"
"Yeah, let me just grab my bag," She bent down and picked up her bag, "See you guys later."

With that she walked away to sit down with Mark, leaving Tom standing watching the three with a disdainful look. "You three need to get a life." And with that he walked away to the jock corner of the room, where Kate sat with a glorious smile spread across her face.

Mike tapped him on the shoulder, "She'll soon realise that that guy is no good for her."
"I just hope that its sooner, rather than later," Austin replied with a forlorn look over at Kate.

Hats off to you, Tim, Rhys and the Sprout for giving us a serial, and for using such good style for the opening chapter! I really enjoyed the rich descriptions and similes you used to bring the story alive! I'm looking forward to delving deeper into the plot :D
