Free To Be Me: This Is Not Me
This has been entered into the Free To Be Me competition.
I could spend time watching all the soaps
I could drink tea and some diet coke
I could do breaststroke in the sea
But that is you, that is not me.
I could eat pickled onion crisps
Could have banana weetabix
I could buy a Punto or Madza 2
But that is not me, that is you.
I could get married in a church
Have massive debts that really hurt
Could have a child, or two or three
Or get a job in accountancy
I got this from my masters degree
Done at Oxford University
Now I’m living life in luxury
But that is you, that’s not me
I could buy some comfy shoes
That fashion critics do abuse
I could go and travel the whole world through
From Paris, France to Lima, Peru
I could write stories, poems, plays
That occupy my days away
As I enjoy the creativity
And embrace my own reality.
But this is not you, you see
This is, and always will be
A being that is always free.
That is only me.
