Free To Be Me: I Stand Free
This has been entered into the Free To Be Me competition.
Phantasms of societal ideal,
are you put at ease,
knowing you are all the same?
Does your ease follow your actions?
And make your actions plain?
Does lack of independence,
give you all you need?
Does following the trends,
give you right and creed?
Does it make you better,
stronger,
superior?
Not from where I stand,
wherever I may stand,
because where I stand, I stand free
to stand and command and be.
We are free.
We make verdict,
accordance to how we wish.
We live, we feel, we see.
We want and know and live.
So no judgement
should fall from your part.
Speak when you see right,
and not because you share your heart.
Because I may read and I may write,
and you may curse and you may fight
but I shall never share that insipid art.
I wear what I want and act like a geek,
I give life to liberty,
I voice freedom to speak.
I want my life,
my life like no other.
Where I am unique,
and free from a cover.
So hide if you must,
and flee from complexion.
Spiral in lust,
thrive for direction.
We will be free,
with our oddities and quirk,
with our idiosyncrasy,
and our life and our smirk.
So from where I stand,
wherever I may stand,
I stand free.
To stand and command and be.
