Free Cake, Coffee And Brains
HeadSpace: The Mental Health Pop-Up Shop
Thursday 12th December, 10am - 3pm
Capitol Shopping Centre, Cardiff (on the corner, opposite Sainsbury's and the nice Starbucks)
Whether you'd like to learn more about mental health, take shelter from the hordes of Christmas shoppers, or just fancy some free cake and entertainment, pop into HeadSpace on Thursday 12th December.
This free event from the National Centre for Mental Health is all about raising awareness and understanding of mental health. Throughout the day there'll be talks from guest speakers (including Dan CLIC!), comedy, art and performance theatre. There's also an iPad mini up for grabs, which would be a pretty awesome early Christmas present.
As with all good events, there will be freebies. We've been assured they will be giving out squishy brains, so be sure to get there before the zombies do.
There'll be stalls from some of Wales' leading mental health organisations, and theSprout will have a stand with examples of young people's creative writing which has helped them deal with mental health problems. You'll also have the chance to participate in mental health research and help change lives for the better.
You don't need to stay for the whole event (although are quite welcome to): drop in on your lunch break or after a bit of Christmas shopping and grab a cuppa. All ages welcome.
For more information, timetables and to book a place (not essential, but this will give them an idea of how much cake and hot chocolate to bring on the day), head to www.ncmh.info/headspace. You can also find more information on their Facebook and Twitter pages.
PS: Everyone who has a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition is welcome to partake in the mental health research. The NCMH hopes to recruit 6,000 volunteers from across Wales. Anyone of any age can participate. If you can't make the event but would still like to sign up to help with the research, or to learn more about it, go to www.ncmh.info/help-us/
