Extended: Do Something Awesome This Summer

Summer is almost here. From this vantage point it appears to be an oasis of endless possibility. But we all know that after three weeks of familiarising yourself with the ins and outs of Coach Trip that summer holidays can get pretty boring pretty quickly.

So why not line up a little something to do over the break? Ideally you’ll want something that’ll be fun to do but will also look good on your CV. How about something that will help young people in Cardiff for years to come?

Well would you look at that! I have something here that ticks all those boxes and so much more.

This summer ProMo-Cymru, theSprout and Safer Capital are teaming up to start work on a new website for young people in Cardiff that will give honest and independent advice on substance misuse. But this isn’t going to be one of those dry and boring government websites; it is going to be designed by the young people of Cardiff for the young people of Cardiff.

So if you’re 11-18, live in Cardiff, are not afraid to express your opinions, are able to get to meetings in the city centre (how hard is it to get a bus?) and are OK working as part of a team then we need you.

I haven’t even mentioned the best part. Aside from helping other young people in Cardiff, assisting in the design of a website from scratch, gaining valuable experience and contacts, making content such as videos from the site and getting free trips to town (they’ll pay your expenses), you get to vote on what group excursion you’d like to go on at the end of consolation period in September.

Fancy going white-water rafting? How about paintballing or go-karting or Oakwood? Some sort of pizza and cinema combo? The choice is yours.
