Exploring Creativity

"We want to inspire children and young people to explore their own creativity, challenge them to aspire to new levels of achievement and support them to expand their horizons."
That's the mission statement: inspire young people.
How? Well that's entirely up to you.
The Arts Council of Wales are offering funding to support ideas which aim to increase opportunities for young creators. They will consider projects that "develop and increase opportunities for [young people] to participate in artistic activity that's inspiring, engaging and fulfilling."
We always enjoy creating new projects, and a key part of our work has always been to include young people every step of the way. And, as anyone who's ever been on a CLIC Weekender can testify, we're good at creating awesome things in a short space of time. The deadline for this grant application is in 10 days, so I'd like to propose an experiment in creative anarchy:
One week to come up with an amazing project idea.
I've set up a Facebook group called Uber Mega Turbo Group of AWESOME and everyone aged 11-25, all over Wales, is welcome to join. If you have any thoughts or ideas on how we could inspire creativity in young people — and I mean ANY ideas (anything from creative workshops to giant robots shooting inspiration beams out of its eyes) — post them in the group. Read the ideas of other people too to see if anything inspires you. Basically get together, have a giant headbash and let's see whether between us we can come up with an epic idea that deserves funding.
If we succeed, next week we'll help you put together the grant proposal and — fingers crossed — they'll like it and whoever's interested can help us turn it from an idea into reality.
That's Uber Mega Turbo Group of AWESOME. Join it. Join it now and let's see what we can make in a week.
If you'd like to be involved but don't have Facebook, leave a comment below or email dan@cliconline.co.uk and I'll try and keep you in the loop. We'll hopefully have a meeting at the end of the week or beginning of next week (in Cardiff, but we'll use video conferencing so people all over Wales are welcome to Skype in).
