Doctor Who In Cardiff

Running around Cardiff trying to find a doctor wasn’t really my idea of fun on a Monday night. But when that doctor turned out to be Doctor Who, my thoughts changed.
On my way out earlier that night I spotted a red double-decker bus with the sign Victoria 200 on its front; it looked out of place in the surroundings of the city.
As I walked across the road the unnatural light from a camera crew inside the bus caught my eye, and that’s when I spotted him! David Tennant with his famous brown overcoat on filming the new Doctor Who episode, Planet Of The Dead.
It has been confirmed that Michelle Ryan, known for her roles in the BBC Wales' drama, Merlin, and Eastenders as Zoe Slater, along with famous comedian Lee Evans are guest starring in the Easter special.
Planet Of The Dead is one of four special episodes airing this year.
Filming took place in St Mary Street, Cardiff and attracted quite a lot of attention. Fans of the show, passers by and the occasional drunk student with a kebab were among the noisemakers that made some of the crew angry.
Filming went on until around midnight in the freezing cold Welsh weather as fans watched.
The new Doctor taking Tennant’s place, as revealed a few weeks ago, is 26-year-old Matt Smith. He will be the 11th and youngest Time Lord to date.
The new episodes, still in production, are set to be on our screens in the spring. Let’s see if the new guy measures up.
