December is a wonderfully magical month thanks to old Saint Nick.

But why wait until Christmas Day for all the amazing things to happen when you can read this month’s Reading Power Book Club's book, Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather right now?

This is the twentieth book in Pratchett’s Discworld series and it’s so good that it was nominated for a British Fantasy Award! It has everything you could want in a book at this time of year. The Hogfather is a Father Christmas-type character who grants children’s wishes and brings them gifts on Hogswatchnight.

Where is the big jolly fat man? Why is Death creeping down chimneys and trying to say Ho Ho Ho? The darkest night of the year is getting a lot darker...

Susan the gothic governess has got to sort it out by morning, otherwise there won't be a morning. Ever again...

Terry Pratchett's Hogfather is a festive feast of darkness and Death (but with jolly robins and tinsel too).

As they say: You'd better watch out...

This book will definitely get you excited for Christmas so pop along to your local library to grab a copy and get reading! As always leave your comments below to let us know what you thought.

Speaking of libraries, did you know that Welsh libraries have just launched a great new scheme? You can now download e-zines from your local library straight to any device that can read them including your e-reader, tablet or smartphone. They have over 250 publications to browse through and you get to keep the copies you download. This is also a 24-hour service so no need to wait until the library doors open.

The Reading Power Book Club is an online book club for young people in Cardiff and involves Reading Power, Cardiff Libraries, Cardiff Council and you!

I'm confused as to what this is about? So on the night before Hogswatch, Death disguises itself as the Hogsfather and Susan has to stop him? Is that right, because if it is, then I will definitely be reading this before Christmas - it sounds very good!!

Shamefully I've not read this (although I did watch the TV adaptation a few years ago, which was brilliant). But in a nutshell (from what I recall): Santa/Hogfather goes missing on Xmas Eve, so someone has to fill in for him. Most people don't work Christmas so not many people go for the job. It ends up being given to the Grim Reaper. Hilarity ensues.
