Children Of Technology: Internet & Work
This week some research was published by O2, which resulted in the acknowledgment (finally!) that young people, aged 16-25 are naturally talented technology users.
Due to being born into the world right when humanity entered a new era, young people can (rightfully) claim their natural talents of using the internet and use it to their advantage.
More and more companies are taking to the internet, more specifically social networking media (Facebook, Twitter etc.), however, many of theses companies do not have anybody experienced in the use of these websites. Thanks to the technological revolution in the last 20 years, the survey shows that a whopping 90% of young people can use social networking websites to promote events, meetings and ideas.
This natural talent should be harnessed by young people; you can now proudly add to your CV that you can use social media! This is a perk young people should exploit, about time huh?
All those years in school hiding your Facebook page from the teachers has paid off. You as a young person are now an important addition to many companies and this point is increasingly valid.
The ability to design a website, to run a social networking page and to develop website applications are now all skills and commodities that companies are vying for.
So, quick, go and check your CVs and see if you've put your talents on there - this is one of them!

Brilliant article. Welcome to theSprout!
I completely agree. I come across professionals and organisations all of the time that are looking for the skills that come so naturally to young people that have been born into the 'Internet age'. Make sure you let employers know about all of the skills that you have in this area, as more likely than not, you will have more skills than them in this field!
