Cardiff City Back To Wembley

Cardiff City have done it again! They have made it all the way to Wembley!

Dave Jones took the Bluebirds to Wembley in 2008 for an FA Cup Final with Portsmouth and again in 2010 for the Championship play-off against Blackpool but now Malky Mackay is taking Cardiff City back to Wembley for the Carling Cup Final in 2012.

Cardiff City had to overcome Crystal Palace in the semi-finals. City lost the first leg 1-0 at Selhurst Park so the second leg was a nervous game at Cardiff City Stadium. Yet in the first five minutes Crystal Palace gave away an own goal. The pressure in the stadium, right up until the end of the game, was unbelievable. With the tie level at 1-1 it went to extra time, where Cardiff hit the crossbar a couple of times as well as the post. The Cardiff fans fell silent. With the scores still tied at the end of extra time, the game went to penalties.

Kenny Miller missed the first penalty for Cardiff but two saves from Tom Heaton meant that at the end Crystal Palace's Jonathan Parr had to score. We shot wide and that meant Cardiff were on there way to Wembley once again.

The following evening Liverpool drew 2-2 against Man City and went through 3-2 on aggregate so Cardiff will be playing Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday 26th February 2012.

This could be a very hard game for Cardiff City but come on bluebirds, we know you can do it! Make us proud!
