The 4th Welsh Poetry Competition, (2010) is still seeking talented writers for this years’ competition!

The aim of the competition is to encourage and reward the abundance of creative writing talent that exists in Wales but fails to get recognition.

Writer and competition organiser Dave Lewis said:

Poets have just one week left to send us their entries and be in with a chance of winning the £300 first prize.

We are 100% independent, we do not use filter judges, we do not get grants, bursaries or other public money from the Arts Council, but are purely self financing.  All entries are judged anonymously by our judge celebrated writer and activist John Evans.

This year we’ve already had entries from Texas, Ontario, Queensland as well as all over Europe and the UK.  We are looking for new and innovative writers, so if you think you’re the one why not send us your work!

The prizes are: 1st Prize - £300, 2nd Prize - £150 and 3rd Prize - £75 with 17 runners-up mentioned on our website.

We are thrilled that Welsh hero, John Evans, has agreed to judge this year’s competition.  John has just released his long awaited new book The Acid Real and has been described as “one of Wales' most uncompromising and original contemporary artists and writers.

To enter you just need to compose a poem, in English, of less than 50 lines and send to the competition organisers.  Entry forms are available by post, can be downloaded from the website or picked up from Wales’ libraries.

It is still only £3 to enter and the closing date is Sunday 30th May 2010.
