Battle Of The Bands 2011
Want to play at Merthyr Rock? Here's your chance!
This year, the Wales-wide CLIC Battle Of The Bands competition is in conjunction with Merthyr Rock, the new music festival featuring The Blackout and Ocean Colour Scene which takes place on Sat 3 and Sun 4 September 2011 in Cyfartha Park, Merthyr Tydfil.
Enter and share a stage with your heroes by winning the Merthyr Rock / CLIC Battle Of The Bands.
The winning band will open the main stage at Merthyr Rock on Saturday 3 September. Two runners-up will play the second stage, one on Saturday, one on Sunday. We will be holding regional heats around Wales at the end of July, with the grand final in Cardiff in August.
The heats are as follows:
Bridgend Hobos - Fri 22 July
Swansea, Sin City - Sat 23 July
EVi, Ebbw Vale - Fri 29 July
Pop Factory, Porth - Sat 30 July
Galeri Caernarfon - Date TBC
Battle Of The Bands final:
Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff - Thurs 18 August
Last year's CLIC BOTB winners The Hostages have gone on to release their debut single as part of their prize package, which also included an awesome video which you can watch here.
The battle is open to all music acts, not just guitar-orientated music, so if you're an MC, keyboard wizard, decks trickster or human beatbox, we want you to enter.
How to enter
Please send your music via MySpace, Bandcamp, Facebook or Soundcloud link to botb@cliconline.co.uk. Make sure you specify which regional heat you'd like to compete in.
Closing date for applications is Tuesday 12 July 2011.
Good luck!
Please note that the Merthyr Rock / CLIC Battle Of The Bands is only open to young people aged 14 to 25 living in Wales. All band members must be aged 14 or over on or before 3 September 2011.
