  • Pill Head

Just be a good little girl,
Take the medicine,
It makes you happy,
It makes you sleepy.

Things will be better,
Just down the little pill,
People will actually like you,
And the voices will go away.

You'll be normal,
A plain ol' girl,
Won't that be great?
Take the little pill.

Once a day,
Twice now.
Did you remember it tonight?
Take it again.

Take it when you're down,
And twice a day,
Make a smile,
And the rest will follow.

Take it,
Now,
You're too young for these feelings,
Too old to not remember.

Take it or you're done,
No friends,
Take it now.
Now.

This is really good, a fantastic insight to what might be going through people's heads. I hope it isn't based on your own experiences! Great poem :)

This is great! I really liked reading this poem. It makes me wonder what people with depression are actually like. Keep up the good work! :)

Sorry but I find this a trite, uninformed point of view on a very complex subject. Nobody wants to take medication but antidepressants DO help thousands of people deal with what is very difficult condition. Instead of reinforcing the stereotype of 'mind control pills MAAAAN' hows about something a little more enlightening? This kind of approach is the kind of thing that shames people into not seeking help when they need it and perhaps prejudices them against taking MEDECINE that could help them through a difficult time in their lives. A little immature and highly irresponsible. Medical professionals study for many years and ultimately know a hell of a lot more about the workings of the human body and brain than any layperson. Question them, yes, but this kind of unfounded distrust of science helps nobody. IMHO.

This is a very complex subject and it's great that discussions about such an important topic can be generated from a poem. There are of course countless sides and angles to everything, so thank you for offering an alternative perspective walterpesse.

It should be noted though, to all readers that this is a piece of creative writing. It is a piece of expression that has clearly struck a chord with many readers.

Thank you Lostlover282 for another thought provoking piece.

I'd like to retract my last comment - it came across as a bit vindictive and is inappropriate. You are quite right, this is a creative piece and I should not have been negative. I apologise to the author and hope I have caused no offence.
