Yn Gymraeg

Anti-Bullying Week is back for the 8th year running. The event which started in 2004 looks to raise awareness of bullying with young people throughout schools and elsewhere and aims to highlight ways in which this can be eradicated.

The Anti-Bullying Alliance is the organisation behind Anti-Bullying Week, this year the week will start on Monday 14th November and run through till the 18th. 'Stop and Think - Words can Hurt' is the title for this years slogan and the theme concentrates on verbal bullying. At the 2010 ABA Youth summit young people raised concerns about the amount of negative language being used in schools and the wider community.

So how can you get involved and do your bit for Anti-Bullying Week? Well, there are a number of different ways in which you can help. Ask your school if they have any blue anti-bullying wristbands that you can wear to show your support against bullying. In amongst all these blue wristbands are a number of special golden wristbands that could win you special prizes so look out for those.

You can also donate to help raise awareness and make a real difference to the lives of people who often face the devastating consequences of bullying. You can do this by visiting the Beat Bullying website.

`If you have been a victim of bullying or are troubled by something and you're not sure who to talk to then the website Cybermentors is where you can get valuable help. Cybermentors is all about young people helping and supporting each other online, alternatively you can speak to someone at Meic online, Meic is the national information, advice and advocacy helpline for children and young people in Wales aged 0 to 25. Young people can access the service by phone, SMS text message, web based instant messenger or e-mail.
