  • Waiting...

The first day we kissed we were flooded in bright light,
you felt embarrassed, I laughed at your suddenly red cheeks,
it was an awkward moment, people aww'd at the sight,
you grimaced, until we were alone, why? Do I look that bad?

We met the day after, it went incredibly well,
you didn't want a relationship yet, that's you're choice,
but as quick as my hopes were raised, they sharply fell,
I'll keep trying I told myself, she's too beautiful to let go.

We met up on the Wednesday, you looked so pretty,
your blonde hair all wavy, reflecting back the sun's rays.
I pulled out all the stops that day, talked about politics and trying to still be witty,
you saw the nerves in my eyes, when I asked you to be mine.

You said yes! An enormous smile appeared on my face,
I hugged and I kissed you, not knowing what to say.
You went to your house, I watched you walk with impeccable grace,
I turned, ended up tripping over my laces, with none.

A few more days past, a week or two I think,
and something was wrong, again you were afraid to be with me,
and for the second time, my heart began to inevitably sink,
I left you at yours, a slow walk home for me, time for a drink.

To be continued....
