Cardiff City played Blackpool on Saturday 29th September 2012.

As Cardiff City are warming up they know they have a tough game ahead of them. There is a big turnout of Blackpool fans in support, which is surprising as they don't have a very big home crowd.

Just two minutes into the game Blackpool are given a chance to take an early lead due to poor defending from Cardiff but luckily they miss this opportunity. Aron Gunnarsson then takes a long throw but City miss out on making anything from it. Then an amazing run from Craig Bellamy is followed by a chance to shoot but it is saved by Blackpool's goalkeeper Matt Gilks.

A lot of good work from Blackpool, keeping the ball away from Cardiff, eventually gives Matt Phillips a good chance to shoot but luckily for us he misses it in a whirl.

This is all followed by a good run from Craig Noone after about 10 minutes into the first half but he's fouled by Blackpool giving the Bluebirds a free kick. It's taken by Peter Whittingham who puts it into the box for Tommy Smith to take a shot but it's well saved by Gilks.

Cardiff are defending excellently against the multiple attempts Blackpool are making; Blackpool are trying hard but it peters out with a goal kick.

The first corner of the game is given to us, 15 minutes in. Bellamy takes the corner but it goes back. Blackpool are now defending well but eventually the first goal of the game is scored by Matthew Connolly! The City crowd roars with excitement as Cardiff take an early lead against Blackpool, who are giving Cardiff a tough game.

The game restarts and Connolly is involved again with some good defending; Blackpool are given a corner but it's no good, Cardiff keep defending, keep pushing the ball back.

Cardiff soon have an attempt but it goes wide and causes an injury for Noone but he seems to shake it off and carries on with the game. Another City chance comes from a throw-in by Gunnarsson, which he surprisingly throws short to Whittingham, giving him an opening but Blackpool defends it well.

Shortly after this Tommy Smith picks up an injury, Cardiff don't want to be losing this good player but he has to come off and is replaced by Joe Mason.

Cardiff are awarded a free kick from just outside the box. It's taken by Whittingham who's getting it into the goals again this season and he scores another one now for Cardiff, making it 2-0, 27 minutes into the game.

Bellamy is clearly getting wound-up by referee at this point as he seems to be favouring Blackpool, yet it's Ludovic Sylvestre who gets a yellow card for badly fouling Noone.

Starting the second half, Blackpool make a substitution with Sylvestre coming off and Nathan Delfouneso comes on fighting.

After some good work from Bellamy keeping the ball in and piling the pressure on, Cardiff are awarded a well-deserved corner taken. It's taken by Whittingham and it gets us a third goal, scored again by Connolly!

Blackpool are still fighting but are unlikely to bring it back. The Blackpool fans start to leave, giving up on their boys. Blackpool are continuing to move forward but are being pushed out by Cardiff until Gunnarsson tackles Stephen Crainey, giving away a free kick just outside the box. Blackpool miss and are having a go at the referee for their mistake.

Cardiff get yet another corner, which is taken by Bellamy. Suspense is high as Taylor goes to the physio for a head injury. Then Bellamy takes the corner and it's Taylor on the end of it but he kicks it high.

Crainey then gets booked for a foul on Bellamy giving us a free kick taken by Whittingham but this one is saved by Gilks. Cardiff then make a substitution replacing Bellamy with Bo-Kyung Kim.

Blackpool get a free kick on the edge of the penalty area and Mark Hudson receives a yellow card. Four minutes added time. Crainey takes the free kick, goes for the corner and hits the post.

Don Cowie then gets a yellow card for a late challenge.

The full time whistle blows. Blackpool are disappointed but Cardiff get a win and are up to second in the Championship table.
