Money

From saving to buying yourself something new, to applying for a student grant, money is a friend and enemy in equal measures. If managed properly and with respect it can help you to do things you couldn't otherwise, but if handled in the wrong way it can leave you struggling and in debt.

You may already have a bank account and be wondering how best to save your money, or you might be looking to get your first paid job and wonder what the national minimum wage is. You might be entitled to income support or benefits and need advice on how best to apply for them.

Some people exist happily on very little cash, while others strive for material things that can only be gained through a healthy bank account. Whichever category you fall into, in this section you'll find all the information you'll need to make financial decisions as a young person.

Just as well, ship1 - booze is bad for you (and illegal for anyone under 18)!

There's quite a big difference between enjoying a drink occasionally and being an alcoholic. Obligatory links to alcohol section and Alcoholics Anonymous.

I wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic, but I do enjoy my drink! I'm sensible when I drink and whoever I'm drinking with I always take care of my other friends around me...
In my opinion, it's okay to drink but not obsessive drinking or drinking because of silly reasons such as heart break, loss of a friend/family member etc. because you will probably end up doing something stupid...

All in all, as long as your taking care and drinking sensibly! :)

Just wondering is there anything on how 14 year olds can earn money because i just had a baby sister so we are tight on money, and i hardly get any except when its my birthday and christmas which is near the end of the year. I would like to have a little job or something to earn money as there are things i want to get and want to save up for. I have been looking around for a job but just can find anything anywhere for someone my age. Can anyone help me or give any advice.

@PS3Girl, I'm not sure off the top of my head apart from babysitting and paper rounds but if you give Meic a buzz/visit they might have some useful info for you...
