The Big CMF Festival (The Big Cardiff Mini Film Festival) is taking over many venues on the 23rd June in Womanby Street and beyond, featuring screenings, masterclasses, networking hubs and ending with a large awards ceremony.

There are 8 categories for short films made on small budgets and a category for low budget features. The festival focuses on films made by new to the scene film makers who strive to create on very little money. This festival is free to submit to if you live in Wales, are under 18 years of age, or have made your film in Wales. All other entrants are required to pay £10 to submit.

Big CMF have an outstanding line up of judges who will be viewing the films and selecting the winners:

  • Narrative - Philip John (Director of Being Human)
  • Documentary - Boyd Clack (Actor in Twin Town, Satellite City and Baker Boys)
  • Action/Thriller - John Shackleton (Producer of Panic Button and Director of We Are Monsters)
  • Acting - Adam O'Brian (Lead actor in BAFTA award winning, Imposter)
  • Feature Film - Elizabeth Morgan Hemlock (Producer of award winning, Mugabe & The White African)
  • Female Director - Nerys Evans (Producer/Director at S4C & ITV)
  • Welsh Language - Daf Palfrey (Director of DIY SOS, S4C dramas and music videos for the Super Furry Animals)
  • Art/Experimental - Merlin Crossingham (Animator and director at Aardman Animations)
  • Young Film Maker (Under 18) - Keri Collins (BAFTA Cymru nominated director who has written and directed for the BBC)
