Since being founded in February 2010, Sinfonia Newydd has produced 25 premiere performances of new music through the Sinfonia Newydd Ensemble and Sinfonia Newydd Chamber Series.
With a particular focus on young talent, this student-led new music organisation continues to give opportunities to composers, conductors, creative music technologists, instrumentalists, vocalists, and most recently theatre designers through the showcasing of new art alongside new music.
Come and join Sinfonia Newydd in celebrating their year-long achievement at the Sinfonia Newydd 2011 Festival on Tuesday 28th June 2011. A day filled with trombonists playing from indoor balconies, hypnotic electro-acoustic sound and image installations, jazz music into Bute Park and an open-air percussion ensemble performance – not to mention the musically inspired new art exhibition running throughout the day! There will even be homemade food and drink! And to round off the day? A large-scale evening concert merging a 50+ piece orchestra and 16 piece chorus performing in the brand new Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama! All of this and more at the only Cardiff-based student-led new music and art festival this summer!
