Folk In The Owl’s Nest with The Gentle Good, Matthew Frederick, Eleri Angharad & Henry Adams | Wed 6th | 7.30pm | £4/3adv

The Gentle Good is also known as Cardiff born Gareth Bonello, a Welsh folk singer and songwriter. His honest and tender vocals are well matched to an intricate guitar style that owes much to the great guitarists of the 60s folk revival. A dedicated multi-instrumentalist his recordings are layered with subtle string arrangements as well as banjos, mandolins and glockenspiels.

Following a series of self released EPs, the debut album While you slept I went out walking was released by Gwymon records in November 2008. The album received praise in the critical press, with Gareth variously being compared to Nick Drake, Martin Carthy, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, John Martyn and Donovan by the likes of Mojo and the Guardian. The mighty Bob Harris repeatedly lavished high praise on the album on his Saturday night show and radio stations throughout the UK have gradually begun to play The Gentle Good.

A captivating live performer, The Gentle Good can enchant an audience with just a guitar, weaving dark stories amongst tragic folk songs as he performs. Recent developments have seen Gareth perform with a string section – delivering a more complete sound closer to those heard on his records.

Support comes from the brilliant Matthew Frederick, Eleri Angharad & Henry Adams!

Juxtaposed Presents Prose with Aeddan & Mellor | Thu 14th | 7:30pm | £5/4adv

Juxtaposed are delighted to welcome rising stars Prose.

Mixing the finest of Manchester's Indie and alternative traditions into a new shape is not exactly a new thing, but it's the manner and bite with which Prose do so is half the reason why their organic-acoustic-hip-hop is so fresh and arresting.

PROSE defy genre because in the fiercest way, they are a genre of their own. They take the best of what has come before in the city; the emotional eloquence of Oasis; the street poetry of John Cooper Clarke; the psychedelic ambition of The Stone Roses and the spirit of when New Order looted the NYC gay clubs of the early 80s and invented dance music as we know it.

At the centre of all this is Mike Murray, a putting new bite into the 'white rapper' genre with a whose machine-gunning rhymes describe life on the streets and love on the dole in all their grit and glory, a northern Mike Skinner with a skill for both the profound and the daft.

Together with production and melody from cousin Dave Royle and the pair's lifelong friend Lee Royle, they're ready to take back the city.

Support comes from Aeddan & Mellor.

All My Friends Presents Totem Terrors with Hodad & Aaronson + Oh Peas DJ | Wed 27th | 7:30pm | £4/3adv

All My Friends bring the frenetic ferocity and witchy noise of peerless post-punkers Totem Terrors to Gwdihw. Prepare to be floored by the flawless as the new-look line-up hammer an ordinary Wednesday into a monolith of gloriously aggressive staccato riff shapes, twisted lightness, abrasive logic, cold melody and playfully blunt humour.

Last year’s ‘Hard Science’ LP displayed all the above and more to critical acclaim that’s been some time deserved.

Support comes from Hodad’s Surf-scuzz melee and the instrumental post-punk of Aaronson.

“Absolutely Howling” - Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music

“Scorchers like 'Big E' and 'Deathwish MF' define Totem Terrors in a nutshell – ginormous, Big Black-ish bloodthirst; almighty artificial cowbells; synthesisers like fuzzy green monsters with pointy yellow teeth...a sheer blast and a swift punch in the gut” - Drowned In Sound, 8/10
